Harley-Davidson’s Lesson: Big Ideas And A Small Price Tag

On my way back from an errand the other day I passed by the Harley-Davidson dealership. Harley-Davidson has marketing down to a science. Think about what vision pops to mind when you see a Harley? For most, it’s a 40 something accountant being able to “step outside his box”. Leathers on, wind blowing through his hair and the loud, unmistakable sound of a big hog speeding down the open road. It’s not about the bike – it’s about the experience. Now that’s marketing.

This photo is not a Harley Davidson but Daelim Daystar 125, picture source: http://fotolamancha.com The typical Harley-Davidson costs between $15k to 30k? Sound about right? Now that’s the same price as a vehicle but with one big difference. A car is a necessity. The bike is a luxury. It comes from the disposable part of the person’s budget not the fixed expenses. It falls into the same category as the diamond rings, campers, boats and vacation homes. It’s purely for enjoyment.
We hear a lot of whining and complaining from the car industry about the price of the product they are selling. “It’s so hard to market a big ticket item”. “If only I had something less expensive to offer…”
Our answer to the dilemma – offer something that is either free or low-priced to go with the main product you are selling. This does two things. 1. It builds your client list. Many people will come in for a free or low cost item. It grabs their attention. Not many things in life are free. 2. Once people spend money with you the first time they are more likely to do it again. You can focus more on the larger profit the second time.
Harley does just this. Many advertisements go like this: “[Picture of the bike] Just $23,997!”
Some ads may have a little additional info like payment terms, financing ect…
But this particular dealership I passed by had a huge banner outside that said: “Learn to Ride: $199!”
What a great idea. They took the $20,000+ sale and turned it into $199 introduction.
Think about it. You are a 40 year old guy or gal needing a change. Feeling the itch for the open road and the wind blowing through your hair. You love the idea of a motorcycle. Everyone, including your spouse and kids, thinks you are losing your mind and need to be committed to the nearest institution. After all $20,000+ is a lot of money if you are not even sure you can ride a motorcycle. What if it turns out to not be your thing?
But….for a mere $199 you can get all your concerns answered. You can prove to yourself, and your wife, that you can ride. It’s a very small investment and if it doesn’t work out you can simply walk away. What a deal! “This is the answer”, you say to yourself.
For Harley this is the best part: you are paying for their sales pitch. They know that, for most people, once they sit on the bike, that is it. The itch for the open road just becomes stronger. It’s merely a test drive and you’ve just paid for it.
So when the offer is made a few things happen:
1. You become their customer
2. The thrill of the ride
3. The sales pitch
4. The desire to not only buy a motorcycle, but buy a Harley-Davidson
All great benefits for the dealership.
So how does this relate to you? Take from what Harley has done. Try to think of something smaller you can offer to bring them in the door. Get that first sale to make them a loyal customer. Think about ways they can pay you for your sales pitch.
Understanding this tactic can make a big difference in your business.

2010 Kawasaki Versys Review.

The 2010 Kawasaki Versys is an updated rendition of an already capable bike – one that is overwhelmingly purchased by experienced motorcyclists – but which could hit the hot buttons for many more younger riders, if only they knew what they were missing.

Since its introduction four years ago, some have grappled with defining this competent but somewhat ambiguous 649cc parallel-Twin all-round sport motorcycle, which even Kawasaki once listed on its website under “Dual Purpose.”

Its name is contrived from the words “versatile” and “system,” and offers some clues.

The Versys takes elements from dual-purpose bikes, standards, adventure-tourers and sportbikes; sharing characteristics of all, but neatly fitting into the category of none.

The World's Fastest Motorcycles.

Hang onto your hats; we're going for a ride. The Superbike sector which was created during the seventies, would allow mere mortals such as you and I to ride something akin to the machines that our heroes use on the track. Of course we all ride sensibly, but to have that spare capacity in hand is something wonderful. Nobody's had this much power between their legs since Marilyn Monroe died. I can hear you all screaming 'Hayabusa', but here are a few others that turn heads (quickly). To avoid favouritism, I've listed them in alphabetical order. You can make up your own mind.

Aprilia RSV1000R

The V-twin power unit is going to generate 143 HP and push you up to 175mph if you're that way inclined. Experience in top class racing has allowed designers to come up with a frame that weighs in at less than 10,000 grams. Introduced in 1998 this bike is not only quick, but has the looks to go with it.

BMW K1200S

If I said 'Zero to Sixty mph in 2.8 seconds' you'll know where I'm coming from, and after that it just keeps on accelerating. With a top speed of 167mph, you ain't going to be late very often. I've never had the pleasure of riding this shaft driven beauty myself, but they say that the comfort and handling are second to none.

Ducati 1098s

160 horsepower and 169mph apart, this is one sexy bike. The high tail section gives the impression of speed, even when the bike is standing still. The whole bike only weighs 173kg, giving the highest torque to weight ratio of any production sport bike ever.

Honda CBR 1100XX Super Blackbird

Production of this superb machine began 1997. The Blackbird gave high performance and touring comfort. At 178mph this bike won the title of 'The World's Fastest Production Bike', stealing the glory from Kawasaki. Some wag once said that the Blackbird cut through the air like a surgeon's scalpel and I can see where that analogy came from. To my eyes, this bike is just beautiful.

Kawasaki Ninja ZX-14

Known as the ZZR1400 in Europe and Japan, this is Kawasaki's flagship model in the Sport bike sector. It takes just 2.5 seconds for this bike to reach 60mph and has a top speed of 186mph. It can cover a quarter mile from a standing start in less than ten seconds.

MTT Turbine Superbike Y2K

Created by Ted McIntyre of Marine Turbine Technologies Inc, this bike is only the world's second wheel driven motorcycle powered by a turbine engine, and doesn't it move; 227mph to be precise. It has a Rolls Royce Allison 250 series engine and is recognised by Guinness World Records as the 'Most Powerful Production Motorcycle'. If you want one, you'll have to find around $150,000.

MV Agusta F4 1000R

Released in 2006, this bike which could whizz you up to 185mph in rapid time set a world record at Bonneville Salt Flats and won the title of the 'Fastest Production Class 1000cc'. Massimo Tamburini, the designer had this to say about his creation 'The dream of every design engineer is to come up with the most beautiful sports motorcycle in the world, then turn it into the fastest, most exclusive sought after and powerful on the market. This was my dream too. I wanted to feel the reactions of a racing bike that could put every available ounce of power through to the ground beneath me'. You know, I think he may have cracked it.

Suzuki GSX1300R

Ah yes, the famous Hayabusa. Introduced in 1999, this bike is capable of reaching a speed of 190mph. 'Hayabusa' is Japanese for Peregrine Falcon, a bird known for its speed. The bird is also a predator of the blackbird, which also happens to be the name of the previously fastest production motorcycle. Makes you think doesn't it?

Yamaha YZF R1

Introduced in 1998, this machine brought the sector nearer to a true racing motorbike. Its 1000cc engine powers the bike up to 176mph. In June of 1997, Nick Sanders of the United Kingdom completed a circumnavigation of the globe riding a YZF R1. His time of 31 days, 20 hours set a record for the fastest motorcycle circumnavigation. He covered 19,930 miles in breaking the record.

Racing motorcycles leaning in a turn.

Different types of motorcycles have different dynamics and these play a role in how a motorcycle performs in given conditions. For example, a longer wheelbase provides more stability in a straight line.[35] Motorcycle tyres have a large influence over handling.

Motorcycles must be leaned in order to make turns. This lean is induced by the method known as countersteering, in which the rider steers the handlebars in the direction opposite of the desired turn. Because it is counter-intuitive this practice is often very confusing to novices—and even to many experienced motorcyclists.[36]

Short wheelbase motorcycles, such as sport bikes, can generate enough torque at the rear wheel, and enough stopping force at the front wheel, to lift the opposite wheel off the road. These actions, if performed on purpose, are known as wheelies and stoppies respectively. If carried past the point of recovery the resulting upset is known as an "endo" (short for "end-over-end"), or "looping" the vehicle.

Tembleque is a unique and picturesque spot in Castilla-La Mancha if ever there was one.

Tembleque is a typical town of Castilla-La Mancha, in the province of Toledo, organised around two plazas: the Plaza de la Orden (The Order's Plaza) and the Plaza Mayor. The two plazas are linked by a passage and around them are the most significant buildings of the town as well as the noble houses. Two storey manors with big whitewashed façades and patios can be found around the picturesque Plaza Mayor, which follows the architectural style of open-air amphitheatres and hospices with a functional aim: to serve as a meeting centre for the town during its festive events.

Accident

No one wants to face an accident or become an accident victim. Even after enough efforts to Accident Avoidance and accident prevention, most of us, at some point in our lives, face accident injury. Whether you are a victim or a witness of an accident, you should not keep quite. One must claim for accident compensation. An accident attorney can provide the best legal help and accident advice in getting you accident injury claims and assert your rights.

There are different aspects of an accident. You can be the victim in the accident, your relative, a friend could be a victim, or you can be the witness of an accident. In all the cases, one must take necessary steps to protect ones legal rights and get accident compensation. Law on accidents has different provisions that safeguard the interests of the sufferers in accidents.

Steps to be taken when an accident occur

In case you are a victim of an accident, there are chances that you can have accident injuries. You don’t have to feel helpless. When you experience or witness an accident, fill up an Accident report form. Recent accidents records suggest the accidents rates in the recent years have gone up.

Get medical help from a doctor. Tell the doctor clearly if you have any headache, loss of memory, blood in your ear or nose, disorientation, nausea or other physical and mental disorders. There are cases in which many people had severe internal injury but unknowingly they don’t reveal to the doctors which result in serious problems in the long run. The most common injury because of accident is Brain Injury. After the medical attention has been given, you should sue the accused driver or the one responsible for the accident. .

You should take help from an accident lawyer. It is always a wise option to seek help of an accident attorney for accident settlement issues. An expert accident attorney can guide you and assist you in filing an accident lawsuit. Many accident law firms provide assistance in getting you accident compensation for any type accident.

In case you are a witness, the first thing that you should to do is inform the accident investigators and call the ambulance for the accident victim. Do work together with the accessible authorities who come to the scene. Take precautions to safe guard your vehicle from any other loss. Consider moving it out of the traffic. Further try to record every thing what every possible on the scene. Your notes should carry the details of accident, recognition of the autos and people available, and the names and badge numbers of all urgent situation personnel. Take pictures in case possible. Insist on breath tests if you suspect it is a case of drunk driving.

If your family member or your near one is the accident victim, then your responsibilities increase. Your first priority is to give the accident victim the right medical care at the right time. When a person is injured, we should never delay in giving medical care. Once the medical care is given, then you should put a legal action to the accused driver. For this, you have to gather some information about the other driver, which includes the driver’s name, address, driver’s license number and accident insurance information. Besides this, you should try gathering information about the witnesses of the accident. Know the condition of the road where the accident occurred.

If you are a witness of an accident, do not run away from the scene. Instead, try to help in some or the other way especially if the accident results into some kind of injury. Stay at the scene until police arrive and do the investigation. Fill up an accident report form t to report the accident. Leave only when you have been told to leave.

• Accident Settlement

Automobile accidents, personal injury accidents, slip and fall incidents, bike accident, bus accident, train accident, airplane accident, sea world accident, school bus accident, accident at work and industrial accidents occur every day. Those accidents that result in personal injury or property damage often end up in court as a lawsuit, and accident settlements can run from a few thousand dollars to millions of dollars.

The purpose of an accident settlement is to compensate the victim for his or her pain and suffering, to replace property damaged in the accident, and to cover medical expenses, lost wages, physical therapy and other services. While victims wait for accident settlements to be reached, many take advantage of funding companies to receive a accident lawsuit cash advance against the accident settlement.

• What to do in case of a hit and run accident:

1. An altercation with the “suspect” may result in far more serious problems.
2. If at all possible, get the license plate number of the vehicle.
3. Call 911 immediately. Provide the police with as much accident information as you can about the other driver. Make, model, color of car, physical description of the driver if you are able to see them, and most importantly, the direction they are traveling. The police may issue a notice to nearby towns to pursue the suspect vehicle and also send a unit to assist you.
4. Talk with as many witnesses as you can. Make sure you ask for their name, address, and telephone number and ask them (beg if you must) to please wait for the police to arrive so that they can give a statement while their memories are fresh.
5. Protect the accident scene. Even the smallest piece of evidence could carry a “signature” of the other driver.

• Auto accident

Each year, thousands of people are involved in traffic accidents during the Memorial Day Weekend. If you are one of these unfortunate people, will you know what to do in the aftermath of a collision? How you react can prevent further injuries, reduce costs and accelerate the clean-up and repair process.

The Consumer Protection Association of America is increasing public awareness on this subject by designating the week before Memorial Day "National Driver Education Week." The Association has developed a list of suggestions to help drivers anticipate what they need to know about dealing with an accident.

"These tips can make a big difference in everything from protecting yourself and your passengers to ensuring that you won't be without a car while yours is in the shop," said Dr. Ray Bruce, president of the association.

Over 6.3 million police-reported motor vehicle crashes occurred in the United States in 1998. Almost one-third of these accidents resulted in injury. In 2001, nearly 42,000 people died on America's roadways. Clearly, accidents are a part of life in America.

So, if you are involved in a traffic collision, try to remain calm, and follow these steps:

• Action Plan to Deal with Accidents:

1. Keep an Emergency Kit in Your Glove Compartment. Drivers should carry a cell phone, as well as pen and paper for taking notes, a disposable camera to take photos of the vehicles at the scene, and a card with information about medical allergies or conditions that may require special attention if there are serious injuries. Also, keep a list of contact numbers for law enforcement agencies handy. Drivers can keep this free fill-in-the-blanks accident information form in their glove compartment.

2. Keep Safety First. Drivers involved in minor accidents injuries with no serious injuries should move cars to the side of the road and out of the way of oncoming traffic. Leaving cars parked in the middle of the road or busy intersection can result in additional accidents and injuries. If a car cannot be moved, drivers and passengers should remain in the cars with seatbelts fastened for everyone's safety until help arrives. Make sure to turn on hazard lights and set out cones, flares or warning triangles if possible.

3. Insurance and claims. After the accident, exchange the following information: name, address, phone number, insurance company, policy number, driver license number and license plate number for the driver and the owner of each vehicle. If the driver's name is different from the name of the insured, establish what the relationship is and take down the name and address for each individual. Also make a written description of each car, including year, make, model and color — and the exact location of the collision and how it happened. Finally, be polite but don't tell the other drivers or the police that the accident was your fault, even if you think it was.

4. Accident information. Use your camera to document the accident damage to all the vehicles. Keep in mind that you want your photos to show the overall context of the accident so that you can make your case to a claims adjuster. If there were witnesses, try to get their contact information; they may be able to help you if the other drivers dispute your version of what happened.

5. File An Accident Report. Although law enforcement officers in many locations may not respond to accidents unless there are injuries, drivers should file a state vehicle accident report, which is available at police stations and often on the Department of Motor Vehicles Web site as a downloadable file. A police report often helps insurance companies speed up the claims process.

6. Know What Your Accident Insurance Covers. The whole insurance process will be easier following your accident if you know the details of your coverage. For example, don't wait until after an accident to find out that your policy doesn't automatically cover costs for towing or a replacement rental car. Generally, for only a dollar or two extra each month, you can add coverage for rental car reimbursement, which provides a rental car for little or no money while your car is in the repair shop or if it is stolen. Check your policy for specifics.

The final question in dealing with an accident is usually who will pay for the damages? If the accident was minor, you and the other drivers may decide to handle the damages yourselves without the involvement of an insurance company. But this isn't always the best idea, for several reasons.

While the other driver may agree to pay for the damage to your car on the day of the accident, he may see the repair bills and decide it's too high. At this point, time has passed and your insurance company will have more difficulty piecing together the evidence if you file a claim.

Also, keep in mind that you have no way of knowing whether another driver will change his mind and report the accident to his insurance company. He may even claim injuries that weren't apparent at the scene of the accident. This means that your insurance company may end up paying him a hefty settlement, or worse yet, you could be dragged into a lawsuit. So make sure that your company has your version of what happened and check your policy — if the damages paid out by your insurance company are below a certain amount, the accident may not be considered chargeable. And you will avoid the penalty of a premium hike.

Auto accidents take a tremendous toll on everyone involved, both financially and emotionally. If you're one of the lucky ones who have thus far avoided a serious accident, hopefully the tips on prevention will help keep it that way. The chances are high, though, that at some point you will be involved in a minor accident. Just keep your head and make safety your primary concern. You'll have plenty of time to deal with the consequences later.

Car accident do’s and don’ts

If you have been involved in any kind of traffic accident, whether a car accident, truck accident, or motorcycle accident, you will inevitably have to deal with your insurance company as well as the insurance agents of others involved in the accident. Filing an insurance claim and handling insurance adjusters can be quite a task. Here are some essential dos and don’ts to remember, regarding insurance claims.
Do's
• Do contact your accident insurance company as soon after the accident or injury as possible. Unless you have some very serious injuries to take care off, your insurance agent is the first person to call in case of an accident injury.
• Do take time to read your accident insurance policy and understand it. This will help you in determining what coverage your policy allows to make the necessary accident claims.
• Do your best to get as many details of the accident as possible. This will include taking pictures of the damaged vehicles and any injuries sustained. Also do try to take down the names and numbers of any witnesses to the accident who may later be able to help prove your insurance claim.
• Do make a note of the insurance details of any other person or vehicle involved in the accident.
• Do keep a written account of any conversations and dealings with the insurance officers, agents, and any other people involved in the claims process.
• Do save receipts and bills for any and all expenses relating to your insurance claim, bills for any repair work on the damaged vehicle, and also any medical costs incurred on the treatment of any injuries that are covered by your insurance policy.
• Do be frank and honest with the accident insurance investigators so that your claim is not denied for fraudulent reasons.
• Do check if you have more than one insurance policy that provides coverage for the particular accident or injury. Many people have multiple insurance policies under which they may be able to file valid insurance claims. So, do take the time to review all your accident insurance policies.
Don’ts
• Don’t admit to any kind of liability on your part but just stick to the facts without expressing any opinion. The ascertaining of liability is affected by different circumstances. It is not your job to admit fault but is the job of the insurance investigators to gather all the necessary facts and evidence and then determine liability.
• Don’t give anything in writing to any insurance officers, whether your own or the other party’s, if you do not understand any part of your policy or claim.
• Don’t let any time limits to file your insurance claim run out. All insurance companies require you to file an insurance claim within specified periods of time after the accident or injury. So make sure you don’t disregard this time limit or else your claim may not be considered valid.
• Don’t take everything that your accident insurance agent tells you as the last word, especially regarding the value of your claim or a accident settlement. Insurance companies always try to give you estimates of losses that are lower than your actual losses. Don’t just accept their estimates without doing some estimation of your own.
• Don’t sign any document that is a release or a waiver of any kind. If you are not sure about what you are being asked to sign, consult an attorney for help.
• Don’t take any check as a full and final payment unless you are certain that it is a fair compensation for your losses.

Personal Accidents Insurance
As accidents occur quickly and often unexpectedly, many organizations and individuals choose to purchase insurance coverage to help family members and loved ones deal with the associated financial instability.
By purchasing Personal Accident Insurance your beneficiary can receive a death benefit in the event of your accidental death during your business trip, vacation, or while going about your daily activities. Policies can be written on a group or individual basis and offer flexible coverage periods.

Chernobyl accident

• The Chernobyl accident in 1986 was the result of a flawed reactor design that was operated with inadequately trained personnel and without proper regard for safety.
• The resulting steam explosion and fire released at least five percent of the radioactive reactor core into the atmosphere and downwind.
• 28 people died within four months from radiation or thermal burns, 19 have subsequently died, and there have been around nine deaths from thyroid cancer apparently due to the accident: total 56 fatalities as of 2004.
• An authoritative UN report in 2000 concluded that there is no scientific evidence of any significant radiation-related health effects to most people exposed. This was confirmed in a very thorough 2005-06 study.

Cheney hunting accident

On February 11, 2006, U.S. Vice President Dick Cheney shot Harry Whittington, a 78-year-old Texas attorney, while participating in a quail hunt on a ranch in Kenedy County, Texas. Whittington was shot in the face, neck, and upper torso with birdshot pellets from a 28-gauge Perazzi shotgun.
First public news of the incident was called in to the Corpus Christi Caller-Times on February 12, 2006, by ranch owner Katharine Armstrong. The Bush administration disclosed the shooting incident to the public the afternoon of February 12. Local authorities released a report on the shooting on February 16, 2006 and witness statements on February 22. All of the witness statements conflict with the Sheriffs reports over the time of the shooting. (see 'Time of Shooting' below).
Cheney did not speak publicly about the incident until February 15 in an interview with Fox News. On February 14, 2006, Whittington suffered a non-fatal "silent" heart attack and atrial fibrillation due to at least one lead-shot pellet lodged in or near his heart.

Challenger accident
The Space Shuttle Challenger disaster occurred in the United States, over the Atlantic Ocean, off the coast of central Florida, at 11:39 a.m. EST (16:39 GMT) on January 28, 1986, when the Space Shuttle Challenger disintegrated 73 seconds into its flight after an O-ring seal in its right solid rocket booster (SRB) failed. The seal failure caused a flame leak from the solid rocket booster, which impinged upon the adjacent external fuel tank. Within seconds, the flame caused structural failure of the external tank, and aerodynamic forces promptly broke up the orbiter. The shuttle was destroyed and all seven crew members were killed. The crew compartment and many other vehicle fragments were eventually recovered from the ocean floor after a lengthy search and recovery operation.
The disaster resulted in a 32-month hiatus in the shuttle program and the formation of the Rogers Commission, a special commission appointed by United States President Ronald Reagan to investigate the accident. The Rogers Commission found that NASA's organizational culture and decision-making processes had been a key contributing factor to the accident. NASA managers had known that contractor Morton Thiokol's design of the SRBs contained a potentially catastrophic flaw in the O-rings since 1977, but they failed to address it properly. They also ignored warnings from engineers about the dangers of launching on such a cold day and had failed to adequately report these technical concerns to their superiors. The Rogers Commission offered NASA nine recommendations that were to be implemented before shuttle flights resumed.

Cerebrovascular accident
Stroke (or cerebrovascular accident or CVA) is the clinical designation for a rapidly developing loss of brain function due to an interruption in the blood supply to all or part of the brain. This phenomenon can be caused by thrombosis, embolism, or hemorrhage.
Stroke is a medical emergency and can cause permanent neurological damage or even death if not promptly diagnosed and treated. It is the third leading cause of death and the leading cause of adult disability in the United States and industrialized European nations.
The symptoms of stroke can be quite heterogeneous, and patients with the same cause of stroke can have widely differing handicaps. Conversely, patients with the same clinical handicap can in fact have different underlying causes.
Diana accident

On 31 August 1997 Diana died after a high speed car accident in the Pont de l'Alma road tunnel in Paris along with Dodi Al-Fayed and their driver Henri Paul. Blood analysis shows that Henri Paul was illegally intoxicated while driving. Tests confirmed that original postmortem blood samples were from driver Henri Paul, and that he had three times the French legal limit of alcohol in his blood. Conspiracy theorists had claimed that Paul's blood samples were swapped with blood from someone else—who was drunk—and contended that the driver had not been drinking on the night Diana died. Their black 1994 Mercedes-Benz S280 sedan (registration no. 688 LTV 75) crashed into the thirteenth pillar of the tunnel. The two-lane tunnel was built without metal barriers between the pillars, so a slight change in vehicle direction could easily result in a head-on collision with the tunnel pillar.

Columbia accident

The Space Shuttle Columbia disaster occurred on February 1, 2003, when the Space Shuttle Columbia disintegrated over Texas during re-entry into the Earth's atmosphere, shortly before concluding its 28th mission, STS-107.
The loss of the Columbia was caused by damage sustained during launch when a piece of foam insulation the size of a small briefcase broke off the main propellant tank under the aerodynamic forces of launch. The debris struck the leading edge of the left wing on the number 8 reinforced carbon-carbon (RCC) tile, damaging the Shuttle's thermal protection system (TPS). While Columbia was still in orbit, some engineers suspected damage, but NASA managers limited the investigation on the grounds that little could be done even if problems were found.

Types of Motorcycles to Chose for the Ride

Triumph T 110 650 cc motorcycle from 1954

There are many different types of motorcycles for you to choose from so if you're looking for bike to ride you'll have your work cut out for you deciding what you should buy.

Touring bikes are large and heavy, which aren't a great choice for those people buying their first motorcycle. These big bikes, however, are great on a long road trip and they have a lot of storage room. Sport touring bikes are another choice that you can consider. These motorcycles have as much storage as a touring bike but aren't quite as big and hard to handle. If you really want to buy one of these motorcycles you might want to think about taking some riding lessons first to get you started and so that you feel comfortable with the bigger size motorcycle.

Yet another type of bike is the sport bike, which is much smaller and is used for sport riding. These smaller bikes are also known as crotch rockets, which is reflective of the way that they move like a fast rocket. You'll definitely want to take riding lessons before you get on one of these motorcycles since their speed can kill you.

A good starter motorcycle is the standard motorcycle, which will handle easy and give you the confidence to learn at your own level. You'll find that the ease of using this motorcycle lets you cruise all over town. The only disadvantage is that you won't be able to take it on long road trips.

The cruiser types of motorcycles such as the Harley Davidsons have a long, low, and sleek styling to them. These motorcycles are heavy and cumbersome, much like the touring bikes.

Yet another type of motorcycle that you can choose from are a bike called the Enduro. These motorcycles are great of off road biking or for taking on long trips for your vacation. Keep in mind that they are on the bulky side and can be hard to park in the city.

Buying a motorcycle is a purchase that you want to take your time making since you want to be sure that the bike is right for you and that you can handle it.

Buying Repo Motorcycles Can Save You $$$$$$$

Have you ever thought of looking at repo motorcycles to buy as an alternative to the normal new or used option? If you haven't, then take my advice and check out the idea. I believe you will be pleasantly surprised with what you will find.

Not only are there repo motorcycles but also boats, cars, trucks, campers and more that can be found at auction houses around the country. These bikes and autos have usually been repossessed because people have not been able to repay their loans for what ever reason. Because of this the finance companies repossess the vehicles and then use auction houses to sell them to the highest bidder.

Often you will find these repo motorcycles, boats, cars and so on still in excellent condition when being sold at these auctions. This in itself gives you the perfect opportunity to purchase not only something at a cheaper cost but also something in good order as well.

The down side of this is that because they are sold at auction you wont have the opportunity to test drive these machines or take them to get checked out. But my suggestion is to have somebody with you who is knowledgable enough to go over it there and then to at least give it a quick check over.

You should always do your homework first before bidding on any thing so you know what is worth what. Other wise how do you know if you are getting a true bargain. Once you have done that and you are sure that you want what ever item it is being auctioned then all you have to do is bid. On most occassions you will end up with a fantastic bargain. Remember these finance companies just want their money back and are not there to make a killing.

Scooters worldwide meet highly varied regulatory climates, since the classifications vary from country to country. For example, France, Italy and Spain allow drivers with an automobile driver's licence to operate motorcycles up to 125 cc. In order to ride larger motorcycles in those countries a rider would need an additional motorcycle licence. In most other E.U. countries, as well as in Japan, one can only ride motorcycles up to 50 cc with a automobile drivers license.

Motorcycle safety concerns many aspects of vehicle and equipment design as well as operator skill.

On most new motorcycles, the headlights turn on as soon as the bike is started as a legal requirement. Some bikes have modulated headlights. This is accomplished using headlight modulators. This is a still a subjective issue in some European countries.

Harley-Davidson bike under the Spanish sun.

The prototype of the new loop-frame Harley-Davidson was assembled in a 10 ft × 15 ft (3.0 m × 4.6 m) shed in the Davidson family backyard. Most of the major parts, however, were made elsewhere, including some probably fabricated at the West Milwaukee railshops where oldest brother William A. Davidson was then toolroom foreman. This prototype machine was functional by September 8, 1904, when it competed in a Milwaukee motorcycle race held at State Fair Park.

The scooter had rigid rear suspension and small 8-inch (200 mm) wheels that allowed a compact design and plenty of room for the rider's legs.

The above picture was taken in Aranjuez very friendly city for all motorcycle riders.

A scooter is a motorcycle with step-through frame and either a platform for the operator's feet or footrests integral with the bodywork. Elements of scooter design have been noted in some of the earliest motorcycles, and motorcycles identifiable as scooters have been made from 1914 or earlier. Regional developments were made in Europe and the United States between the World Wars. The global popularity of scooters dates from the post-World War II introductions of the Vespa and the Lambretta. Economic and political factors, including competition from other vehicles, have shaped the evolution of scooters and have caused the development of different variations of scooter.

The popularity of scooters as a form of personal motor transport is partly based on their low cost of purchase and operation and their convenience in parking and storage. Licensing, registration, and insurance requirements for scooters have been made easier and less expensive than those for cars in many parts of the world.

Motorcycle construction is the engineering, manufacturing, and assembly of components and systems.

In 2004 after a year hiatus, Suzuki came out with the GS500F to fill the void left (in the US market) by the GS500E. This bike was very similar to the previous E model, but now comes with a fully enclosed fairing. The fairing offers a sportier, aggressive look and improved rider comfort by providing wind protection and better aerodynamics. An oil cooler was also added. As with the previous E model, the F is able to be restricted for use in countries where restrictive motorcycle licenses are issued. The GS500F was dropped from the UK. Suzuki range in 2007.

Sokół 1000 - CWS 1000 and M 111

Sokół 1000 (also known as CWS 1000 and M 111) was the heaviest Polish pre-war motorcycle manufactured by the PZInż works, both for civilian and military use in the Polish Army.
[edit] History

In late 1927 the Polish Army created a specification for a general purpose heavy motorcycle that was to replace the Harley-Davidson motorcycles used by then. By 1932 the Centralne Warsztaty Samochodowe works prepared a short series of roughly 200 CWS M55 motorcycles equipped with a sidecar. Although heavily-based on American designs (the bike itself was based upon Harley-Davidson, while the engine was almost a direct copy of Indian), the machine proved to be unreliable.

Because of that in 1931 it was decided to prepare a completely new heavy motorcycle for the Polish Army. Subsidied by the state, the PZInż holding extensively tested and modified the earlier M55 design to fit the specifications. Initially named CWS M III, the new construction was to be reliable and immune to harsh conditions, bad service and user-friendly. Because of that, the final motorcycle was slightly outdated and particularly heavy, even as for its class. However, it proved to be extremely reliable and durable. However, the quality had its price and the bike was sold in civilian version for 4200 złoty, that is roughly 800 1939 US dollars or 170 1939 pounds, a price only slightly lower than that of an average car of the epoch.

The production started in 1933 and lasted until the outbreak of the World War II in 1939. Mass produced entirely in Poland (less than 5% of parts were imported), Sokół 1000 maintained the high quality throughout the production period. Every tenth motorcycle was delivered extensively checked for parameters and all machines were road-trialed before delivery.

Its durability proved to be a major advantage and Sokół 1000 was much faster off-road than many of the previously-used American counterparts. Among the most notable innovations introduced in the Polish construction was a soft sidecar mounting, which allowed for easier handling and greater off-road speed.

Sokół 1000 was also the basis for Sokół M121 trike prototype, with the sidecar wheel powered. Its engine was also used for railway draisines.
